Valentine's

Several years ago when I was living in Utah, I received some handmade Valentine's in the mail from my Mom and my little sister. The two of them decided to make a bunch of Valentine's for some sort of non-profit group and they decided to send a few to me. I loved these Valentine's! I hung them up on the wall of my cubicle at work, so I would see them every single day and be reminded that I was loved.

Fast forward a few years to 2018. I made a bunch of Valentine's for Bubba and we mailed them out to some of the little kids in the extended family.

I wanted to make Valentine's again this year for both of the boys to send out. I knew if I was going to do it that I had to start early. Back in September I started gathering my supplies and around Christmas I started making Valentine's.

Initially I planned to just send them out to the kids again. And then I started feeling ambitious and decided to send them to all of Andy's extended family, my immediate family, some of our close friends and the elderly ladies in the neighborhood who live alone. I made more Valentine's than I would like to admit. I wanted to show the important people in our lives that we care and they are loved, I hope we accomplished that.

Bubba helped me stuff the envelopes and he tried to eat the glue stick on more than one occasion. Maybe next year he will be big enough that he can help me some more. He loved putting Valentine's in the mailbox with me and would say, "Mail" each time we would go drop them off.

Two people sent Bubba and Bear Valentine's in return. Bubba was so excited! He loved getting mail! (He's been known to cry when there isn't any mail in the mailbox).

Girls Night

One of my friend invited me to go to "Girls Night" at a local ceramics studio. I happily accepted the invitation pending I wasn't in labor. As luck had it, I didn't go into labor so to girls night I went. I enjoyed the food and company. I glazed a monster piggy bank for Bubba. I'm really pleased with how well it turned out.

Highlights From May

We decided that the month of May was going to be dedicated to yard work. We figured if we got the yard work done now, we could play the rest of the summer. Andy did a majority of the work, I helped out as much as I could despite my morning sickness.

This is one of my favorite pictures of Bubba. We had gone out to eat before heading to the hardware store and he decided it would be fun to pour water all over himself, the only thing we had in the car to dress him in was a onesie.

Nursey Redo Before & After

We purchased our first home about a year and a half ago and we have done a ton of work to it. I was adamant that we not unpack our boxes until we finished painting the entire house. When I first came home from the hospital with Bubba, most of our things was still in boxes-- it was a bit stressful at the time. I thought it would be fun to show what Bubba's nursery looked like before and what it looks like now.

 *Note: The before photos where from when the house was for sale, I downloaded them and cannot take credit for them. And, Bubba's name is not Wyatt.

BEFORE

 
We pulled the trim board that goes around the middle off the wall down. The former homeowners not only nailed it to the wall, but glued it as well. When we pulled the trim board down it really damaged the sheet rock. Andy did A LOT of work to fix it and then he painted the walls and the ceiling. We also ripped out the unfunctional shelving in the closet and built our own shelving-- it's so much better now! We also had the carpets replaced just before we moved in.

AFTER

We bought this book case used for $10. We sanded it down, repainted it and anchored it to the wall.

We picked up the toy block used.

The rocking chair and octopus came from Target. The blanket was gifted to us.

The mirror is old, it is from Ikea.

The clouds came from Target.

I love the deep shelves.

We bought the crib and mobile at a garage sale for $15. The mattress was gifted to us. The bedding came from Target.

The giraffe came from Hobby Lobby.

We bought the dresser used for $30. We sanded it down, repainted it and replaced the rails.

This print came from Hobby Lobby.

The sign was gifted to us. The elephant came from Hobby Lobby.

The sound machine is from Amazon. The bird is old, it was a gift. The lotion is our favorite it comes from Melaleuca.
