Highlights From May

We decided that the month of May was going to be dedicated to yard work. We figured if we got the yard work done now, we could play the rest of the summer. Andy did a majority of the work, I helped out as much as I could despite my morning sickness.

This is one of my favorite pictures of Bubba. We had gone out to eat before heading to the hardware store and he decided it would be fun to pour water all over himself, the only thing we had in the car to dress him in was a onesie.

April Highlights

We watched my niece Hazel for 8 days at the beginning of April while my younger sister was in China. Watching and caring for two toddlers who haven't spent much time together was not an easy task. I think at some point all of us with the exception of Andy cried tears of frustration. I am glad  my sister was able to go on this once in a lifetime trip and that we were able to get to know Hazel better. (Note: It was while Hazel was here that my morning sickness started, not good timing).

Hazel.

The other big thing that happened this month was that the front of our house got a facelift. The former homeowners had taken out all the vegetation and put in a bunch of river rock because their cat liked to poop in the flower beds. The rock was ugly and our house was in desperate need of some curb appeal.

Before.

Our neighbor was going to take all of the rock but never got around to it. We ended up shoveling as much of it as would could each week into our garbage can until it was all gone. We laid down a weed barrier, brought in top soil, Andy dug over 30 holes in the clay and shale, we put down a bunch of dark beauty bark and planted some grass seed. We are so pleased with the results.

During.

After.

The other big highlight was Bubba participated in his first Easter egg hunt. It was so fun to watch him run and drop each egg in his little basket, I'm so glad we took him! (Note: Andy made that basket in his underwater basket weaving class in college, Bubba uses it almost everyday to collect our chickens eggs).

Surprise!

There has been nothing but crickets on the blog for quite some time, the reason for this is because I have had severe morning sickness. Yes, you read that right, morning sickness. I am currently 18 weeks pregnant and still incredibly sick.

We are really excited to be having another little one joining our family, I just wish I were feeling better.

Before I got pregnant, I would walk 3 miles with Bubba then hit up the gym at night and do another 6-8 miles on the elliptical. I haven't been to the gym since the first week of April (that's when the morning sickness started). As for walking, I missed several weeks. When I finally started walking again it consisted of  hunching over the stroller and walking 1 mile while in pain. I am slowing working my way back up to three miles.

For several weeks it felt like there was an axe in my stomach, it hurt so bad. Thankfully that part of my morning sickness has gone away.

I am still throwing up, initially I was throwing up about ten times a day and the anti-nausea medicine didn't help. The doctor told me I would just have to tough it out and that I could get an IV if I needed one. There were definitely a few days I could have used an IV but we didn't have insurance so Andy and I did the best we could to keep my hydrated.  I didn't know it was possible to throw up out your nose until it happened twice to me- super nasty and painful, I feel bad for anyone else who has had this experience. At this point the throwing up has lessened, but it still happens.

One day while I was showering my body decided it was time to throw up. I closed my eyes and let my body do it's thing. When I opened by eyes I was met by Bubba. He had popped his head into the shower at exactly the wrong moment, the throw up was all over his head. He didn't make a sound, he just looked super confused. Poor boy!

Migraines have been a new thing for me this pregnancy. I have been getting several migraines a week. Sometimes the migraines last 3-5 days, it's awful! Water, sleep, Tylenol and essential oils don't seem to help much. My doctor did give me some caffeine pills and they seem to help take the edge off. I am hoping that the migraines don't last my entire pregnancy.

As to my energy levels, I am constantly tired. I am hopeful that my normal energy levels will return so I can get back to the gym before too long.

Anyways, that's the news. Surprise!
